"Silence is our key Nau'ren," Ullissyr said, walking ever deeper into the cave, sword out, and alert. "It is much easier for two people to move steathily than a whole patrol."
She looked around, having only been here once, she did not know the way very well. "If we do run into the basilisk, I will gladly let the pirates try and take it first, and let them die."
She stopped and inspected the wall beside her. There was a splatter of blood across in large amounts. Her eyes fell to the floor, where two mangled corspes lay... or what was left of the corpses after something had eaten it to shreds. "Honourable men," she said, noting that they weren't pirates.
She turned back to Nau'ren. "How well do you know these caverns?"

"Not well enough to memorize them. But well enough to not get lost," She was never lost. She looked at things as never lost, just in a new place. She quieted down when she noticed the maimed bodies sprawled on the dusty cave floor. They had fallen between three very tall stalagmites, making it look like an honorable death bed. She smiled, hoping they were now at peace in the new realm they had traveled to. She was use to seeing the dead, but she always respected them and made sure to think of them at happiness.

The Admiral nodded, noting her peaceful look at the bodies on the ground. This Nau'ren was an honourable soldier, Ullissyr was pleased to fight beside her.
"We should continue deeper," she said, tearing her eyes from the men. "Let me know if I'm loding my way."
But she didn't have to go far before she reached a point where the wall of the tunnel was collapsed in, and a huge gaping cave lay on the other side. There was only darkness in there, thick and obscuring.
"I'm willing to bet that this is our prey's lair Nau'ren," she peered into the hollow...

Nau'ren stepped next to Lorian, looking into the darkness too, a concentrating expression was set on her face. She was the first to make a movement towards the threatening tunnel. She slowly took another step to see if Lorian would reject her action.

Lorian admired her bravery, and couldn't be outdone by her. She forcefully followed behind Nau'ren and stepped into the cavern. She could hardly see anything, but she hoped that her eyes would adjust soon enough.
"Stay close Sergeant," The Admiral stated. "I don't want to lose you down here in this filth."
But then she saw a massive snake skin lying on the ground, just on the edge of her vision. At first she didn't distinguish what it was, so she moved closer, and was horrified to see just how large this beast was. She gasped and took a step back, but quickly belayed that action and moved closer to it.
"This thing is massive," she said to Nau'ren. "We have a hard fight ahead my girl."

Nau'ren had already known that a basilisk would put up a fight. But she didn't say anything. She smiled, but knew Lorian wouldn't see it in the darkness. She smiled at the fact that Lorian cared for enough to not want her to die in this horrible place.
The dank tunnels made Nau'ren's nose wrinkle. She took a look at the skin and bent down to feel it. There was no reason at all for this action. She had just never felt the scaled skin of one before. It had an interesting texture. It wa rough, but smooth. Light, but heavy. Clean, but dirty.
She stood up again, now looking at Lorian once again. "'ve never felt one before," she said, wanting to intrigue the admiral if she hadn't felt one either.

Lorian sighed, "I have..., but nothing this large."
She stood up and raised her sword when she heard a man's voice calling out. Nau'ren must had heard it to. She stared into the darkness in the direction of the voice, straining her ears for him. "Pirates," she whispered.
The Admiral crept forward slowly, her sword raised elegantly and deadly...

"Snakes don't rely on eyesight to locate their prey Morwen," Chase replied maybe a little too loudly. "They can taste us on the air..."
Chase suddenly stopped, and raise his hand to indicate to the others to stop. He heard something... but he wasn't sure what it had been... it was too soft to be the basilisk. Chase swore in his mind. The Navy had arrived...

Nau'ren shifted her head in the direction of the voices too. She hadn't drawn her sword out yet, but her hand was at the ready. For she didn't want to have to move quietly with a sword at hand.
She tilted her head towards Lorian to see what orders she would give. After all, she was higher in power.

Morwen cocked her head, trying to get what he had just said. "Doesn't a basilisk have eyes of the dead? One look at one's eyes and you fall like stone to the ground? Those are the rumors I have heard. Or are they wrong?" She was curious to know more about this creature. Her voice was quieter than Chase's. She did not want to draw attention.

"I never saw the beasts eyes when I fought it earlier," Chase was whispering now. "It may be true, but who would know?"
He crouched on the ground crossbow scanning the darkness for any movement. He motioned with his hand to the others, "Get down, and be ready..."

Ullissyr motioned with her hands for Nau'ren to follow her and move up on the left. She wasn't sure how many of people were down, or even if they were pirates at all. But she just wanted to be sure. ooc: Just leave it there for the other guys... they've got two storylines to catch up on now

Poker walked with the Pirates within the dark cave which seemed to be tunnelling deeper and deeper into the grounds of Lilan. Poker froze where he was and turned to face the others.
"Amory!" He hissed, "Chase, other one, come here!"
Poker looked down to Archer before turning back to them. "Guys, this cave isn't going to the surface, it's taking us further down...I just thought what if..." Poker paused, he knew this could well sound stupid. "What if this basilisk is more intelligent than any other snake, maybe we have just been taking it for granted...maybe it knows how to trap..." Poker looked at Chase. "and ambush."
Poker's words were interrupted by Archer, barking hysterically. The harsh sounds of the dog resounded off the walls all around him. If he didn't have a firm hand on Archer it would have been impossible to place where the sound was coming from.
Poker, eyes wide and fists clutched on his cutlasses, turned around slowly to see black eyes and white teeth and, underneath the barks of Archer, the all too familiar sound of approaching hisses.

Well, I'm not gonna look into its eyes. Her head was lowered as she thought on. She assumed she was now called "the other one" and frowned at that. I remembered his name. Her hand was slowly itching towards her weapon, in case it was her that was attacked first...

Chase whirled around at the sound of Archer going hysterical. Horus took off and started screeching across the cavern. The whole place was full of noise, but he could hear one noise that more unsettling than any other. A deep, rumbling sort of hissing noise, and it was getting closer.
Chase jumped onto a rock to get some height and he climbed up a small rock wall so he had a vantage point, but when he looked down, all he could see were two large fangs below him. He brought his crossbow up to his shoulder and took aim, as he could see the beast was almost upon Poker.
"Brothers for life Poker," Chase squeezed the trigger of the bow and the sinew snapped loudly and strongly along the wood shaft. The basilisk reared its head and launched itself at the helpless pirate. The bolt crushed itself throught he beasts gums and cracked one of its fangs in half, almost dislodging it. The baslisk hit the ground and writhed in pain.
It was a lucky shot, even Chase was surprised he had made it...
