What did you come up with? Don't write it down if you don't want to... I know how writers can get protective of their ideas so other people don't steal them...
I tried to write some stuff, but I gave up a long time ago... Its not like a have a gift for it or anything, haha ;D

So your one of those: "everything is either 100% original or 100% plagiarised people? Nobody is born with a natural talent to write amazingly. It is something you have to work for. A plumber isn't born with a unique ability to plumb, he learns and trains and hones his skills, like a writer.
I think characters are the most important part of the story and I strive all the time to make them as realistic as possible. You don't know how many drafts of novels near completion I have completely scraped because to me the characters seemed to forced.

I care about characters a lot as well. Quite honestly, they are, in my opinion, the part of the story that can really keep it going... I mean, the plot's important, but without characters, there is nothing to support the plot. Or at least, not much enforcement.
From what I've read of Poker's, he is very good. ^^

You're such a suck up, haha ;D
No, I think that any idea that somebody comes up with has come to them because of something they have seen or heard of. Its just based upon how the reader takes in the writer's thoughts, and they're never going to be the same. Its take imaginative people to put their own twists on things, and thats when new ideas are born...

Thanks. *pats head* I assume you are talking about the RPs? I like to think I write better with my novels simply because I control where everything is going and I know the characters better. Haha.
There are still some ideas that are unique. Old ideas need new twists though or they will fail. Things like elves and wizards and dwarves. Because of Tolkien, this age has seen as many elves and wizards and dwarves as necessary...unless of course you can put some new twists in there and make them different.

no, I swear I'm not sucking up! Not intentionally. >.<
Yeah. ^^
Every story (well, amost) had twists in the characters/plots, for if they didn't... then it would just be one whole plagerized story and not many people would want to read it. Or at least, all of the good ones are like that. ^^

Popularity doesn't equal quality, nor does it equal originality.

That's very well put. ^^ It's a pity that some of the most amazing stories out there aren't very well known...

You forget that writing takes a lot of imagination and creative perception that some people don't have. You have to learn from others and practice to better your fluidity and literary value, but I think a lot of it has to do with your natural thought process.

True... At least this site has taken some decent fantasy ideas and twisted them into something new.
Also, with a site like this, because there is just so many people involved with it there is much more chance of an idea being the best that it possibly can be.

That's true. ^^ I love this site's story plot. It is very different than others.
(and no, that was not me sucking up! )
But yeah. I can't wait for more members. Some of them are bound to bring on really good ideas. ^^

What about me?! I'm...not so new anymore...OMG! I'm not a newb anymore...-sighs- the world has ended as we know it. And about the whole writers thing, I believe that quality is more important than quantity.
