Chase looked over to Poker, who was now shock still, "Whats wrong?"

Poker had hardly any time to react. He watched the black eyes and the white fangs as he spun away. Just in time for the basilisk to lunge for him and luckily miss.
"Run fool!" Poker yelled, climbing over the skin of the basilisk in a desperate attempt to reach the door.
Poker could hear the hissing of the snake as it grew closer and closer to its prey.

Chase barely had time to notice what on earth was going on. All he saw was Poker dive away and a massive hulking beast of a thing lunge forward, spraying the area with saliva and venom, its fangs bareing close to Chase's face.

Chase did the only thing he knew to do, he pulled the trigger. The bolt hissed into the large snake's armoured nose and punched deep into its skin, but even a crossbow as powerful as Chase's wasn't enough to get it to to do any decent damage, not against hide that thick. So Chase ran. The snake started twitching in pain. It wouldn't kill it, not even close, but maybe distract it enough for him to escape...

Poker ran. His heart was pounding within his chest and he had broken into a cold sweat. It wasn't because he was tired or puffed, but Poker was scared.
Chase's bolt seemed to have done a grand total of nothing to the basilisk. It only seemed to enrage it even more.
Trust Chase to shoot a basilisk. Poker thought as he jumped out into the mines. He never stopped running.

Chase leapt into the mines and jumped to the side a brief second before a long white fang followed him out. The whole wall seemed to obliterate as the basilisk threw itself at the wall. Chase's pick and put a hole in the wall, this huge beast had ensured that there was no wall left...

Chase was knocked down by the rocks tumbling all around him, but he knew that he had to get up or die... so he got up and flat out sprinted up the mine, trying to get away from the basilisk, he caught up to Poker and soon they were running side by side as the beast struggled to crash through the narrow tunnel.

"What the hell did you wake up!" Chase yelled to Poker, to get over the loud sound of crashing rocks...

"Me?!" Poker yelled. Despite the heat of the moment, Poker could still manage to get insanely angry at Chase's commonplace arrogance. "You're the one who opened the bloody wall!" Poker pushed past some guards as they stood, gasping at the horrible creature nearly flying towards them. Their screams of pain forced Poker to run all the faster.
Don't these mines ever end? Poker thought desperately.

Chase knew where he was going, he had been here hundreds of times before, and only a few of those times were for honest work...

"It was you woke it up though!" Chase shook his head, they could do this later, when their lives weren't at stake...

"Just a little further Poker!" Chase called out. About four hundred more metres and they would be free men. Some light flashed out to them as they rounded a corner. "Go! Go!" He didn't want Poker to die, even though they weren't the best of friends, he had known him for so many years...

Chase burst out into the light, and hit a slope running. He slid down it, dirt flying everywhere, but at least he was outside...

Poker couldn't believe him. Chase still had time to be arrogant.
Poker dived out of the Emerald Mind, sliding down the slope with Archer running behind him, barking madly. The basilisk would be out soon. They needed to find help, Poker needed to warn someone, fast.

Chase lay at the bottom of the slope, his entire body ached, but he needed to get up, to escape with Poker... he had to...

Chase limped away after Poker, hopefully he'd find where he was going, and hopefully the Basilisk would get stuck in that mine, at least until he was away from this horrible island, he had to find a ship that was leaving... soon...

Poker knew he would never be able to reach the Diamond City, but there was a whole village made up of the families of the guards who worked at the Emerald Mine somewhere around here. Luckily, Archer had a better sense of direction than Poker. Archer ran flat out towards the city with Poker doing his best to keep up with him. Poker hardly noticed the stitches throughout his torso or the pain in his feet. All he did was run in a desperate passion, like prey running from its predator.

Chase focused on the situation as he settled into a slow rythym of his running. He could run for a while longer. Suddeny he realised that he had left something of great value behind him.

He stopped and turned around. "Horus!" But the peregrin falcon was right behind him, and she swooped past his head and circled above him, calling out. "Oh," Chase sighed. "Thank god." So he continued affter Poker.

"Where's the village Horus?" Chase called out. Its not like she could have understanded him, but it gave him solace to speak to her, besides, she knew where safety was, and she would lead him to it, flying slightly ahead of Chase.

It wasn't long before he arrived at the village. Poker was here too, or so he would have thought. He had lost sight of him as he had gone over a hill a while ago and he hadn't seen him since them. Or maybe Chase was just tiring... he didn't know, but he had to get out of here... besides, he and Poker would both be heading back to Teer from here...

Poker sat with Archer on board the vessel 'The Black Panther'. It was a trade ship heading towards Teer. It wouldn't be long until they escaped this nightmare. At the moment, Poker didn't care about warning people, he had to escape. Archer barked and looked to the sky. It was Horus, the pereguin falcon that had appeared with Chase half way through their escape.
"Horus!" Poker yelled. "Find Chase! The Ship's about to leave!" Poker didn't know if Horus could understand, but hopefully the word 'Chase' would take it back to its master.

Chase ran around the edge of the docks and instantly saw Horus sweeping around the tall masts of a trade ship as it was slowly pulling from the ports. She started screeching loudly at him, so he broke into a full sprint. Half way there he saw and heard Poker's shepard, and was glad to know he had familiar company aboard this ship.

Chase leapt across the water and landed heavily on the deck of the Black Panther, next to where Poker was.

Chase had previously tried to yell to everyone that they were all in mortal peril, but no-one listened to him, so screw them... he had to survive.

"Someone is going to have to kill that thing Poker!" Chase said to the pirate. Horus settled on his shoulder as he stood. "What if it knows how to swim?"

[Poker]

"Who knows?" Poker said as the ship began to sail away. "All I know is that our skins need saving. To hell with the rest of them."
Archer whimpered a bit and lay down. Poker watched the water. As long as the basilisk couldn't swim they were save now.

Chase sat down next to the pirate. "We should tell Amory... Everyone will want a crack at this thing." The Emerald Isle slowly began to fade away into the horizon. Chase had to get to Teer and report to Amory, and he was already on his way...
