The dark blanket of night outspread itself over the earth, adorned with the shining diamonds of stars, and lit to a deep navy blue by the waxed moon, it's pale face looking down upon it's own reflection that glimmered in the smooth and unruptured surface of Dragontooth Lake. Silently along the rocky shores of this lake walked a young pirate, her golden- blonde hair shining pale in the moon light as it curled around itself into one perfect ringlet from which the fine strands of hair were loosely clasped into a ponytail with a royal blue sash. The girl stooped over a pebble and picked out a flat and smooth one, aiming it upon the surface of the lake and skipping it three times before it sunk into the dark depths of the watery abyss. She silently hummed to herself, not feeling the leastbit threatened, as her dark skin made her appear as a southerner. Perhaps she was one herself. She had no idea of her heritage. Her parents were not true natives of the land in which she was born. Maccenna just shugged her shoulders. She did not really chare about her true family because they weren't. The crew that she had worked alongside of and grew amoungst was her family and they were all dead. She had alot of thinking to do. Geddo's own story had recalled so much of her past.

Alessio Khalora sat on top of the cliff face that he adored so much, eyeing the landscape. It was so different in the night compared to the day. In the day the sun would glimmer off the water, highlighting a bright, aple blue. The land was and eruption of greens, golden browns and shining sand. The land was alive with life, and calls of thousands of creatures humming in the distance, but at night it was silent... perfectly.
There was no moon except the darkest of blues glinting off the waves in the lake, and the land was blanketed by a deep violet... Either way... it was beautiful...
Alessio could see for ages from up here, and he did notice something of interest. Someone else was walking along the side of the lake. Even an southerner here was a rare thing, and this person certainly looked like a southerner from here.
He got up, patting the dust off of his robes and light travelling armour. He jumped off the cliff, sliding down a strong vine which he had used a hundred thousand times before. It was one of the things that kept him fit at 32.
He landed heavily on the ground and walked down through the bush and out into the open, across the sand towards the newcomer. As he got closer he noticed that she looked just one of his subjects... but there was something different about her... something free about her...

Maccenna spun around as a loud crunch of landing feet upon rocky soil told her that she was not alone . On instinct, Maccenna would have drawn her bow, but knowing that if she was discovered as a pirate with a weapon, she would surely be headed off strait away to some dongeon cell, and she was sure, that life would be quite a plaintive thing for her after that. Insted, she gripped the smooth round pebble that she had just managed to find and clenched it tightly with anticipation. It was dark out and the features of the person approaching her were hardly noticable, though she could tell that the person was a man and he had armour on. She could hear the light clicnk of it in the dark. Her hand clenched the syone even tighter, her feet already light with forboding as she took a stetp back. She was ready to run if she felt threatened.
OOC: Heheh.. Yah.. I know.. tis a bad post.

Alessio walked up to the girl, and saw her take a step back from him. He only just realised how forboding he must have looked in the twilight, being the giant of a man that he was...
"Do not fear the dark my girl," Alessio said. His voice was loud, but not as intimidating as it usually was. "I'm not here to harm you." He looked at the girl with some interest... no-one usually came by here... it was quite a forboding trek to get here, and a harder one back.
"I am Alessio Khalora, King of the Southerners," He nodded his head slightly. "And who is this who walks so freely along the beaches of the Dragon Tooth Lake, at midnight... alone?" By now he was pretty much certain that there was something odd about her. She wasn't a true Southerner...

Maccenna took another step back from the man, trying to discern his face but failing, the pebble she had clenched so tightly was now loosened and she let it fall to the ground, clinking upon the beach. Her heart was lifted with a sudden fear. Perhaps she was not so safe here, but perhaps this King of the Southerners, this Allesio Khalora, would not hurt her. Surely, Pirates have helpped him once or twice before? She was not sure, but Maccenna was certain that hiding her identity as long as posible was safer than revealing it openly. She swallowed down her fear, though it seemed to choak her, strangle her as the man spoke. Perhaps she had not made such a wise choice after all to come here in the middle of the night. Finally she gathered enough of herself to speak, though she could feel her voice tremble. "Surely," Maccenna began, her voice wavering a bit more, "A girl like me would not matter to a lord like you." Her heart was thumping out of her chest now, pounding with in her, almost screaming. The King of the Southerners had a commanding presence, an almost forboding presence in her eyes.

The girl seemed absolutely terrified of him. She was trembling in her stance and her voice. "Calm down there, I'm not here to hurt you." He had a sudden thought...
"You must be a pirate then..." It was a stab in the dark, but he doubted that any other alleiagnce could come this far into Danarta. "You do know that the Southerners and Pirates have an alliance at the moment," If she didn't then Amory maybe didn't announce it as well as she should have...

Maccenna knew nothing of there alliance. She had never been here before and had just arrived only a few days ago. She gave an easy smile in the dark. "oh." she said feeling rather stupid. "I did not know. I'm not from around these parts." she replied.
OOC: Short post! I'll make up for it later!

Alessio smiled in the dark. It had been an excellent guess. He had gotten to know pirates pretty well then he reckoned.
"Well then, now you know..." He glanced around in the twilight. "I don't believe I ever caught your name..."

OOC: Err! This post is gonna be really short! I have no muse...
Maccenna felt uncomfortable. Her name was a precious thing to her. If some one knew it, it meant that her freedom could be taken away or something worse. What would happen if the southerners and the pirates ended up fighting eachother? What would she do then?
Yes, Maccenna was wary. She looked up at the face of the other, hidden in the shadows of the night. But then, what would she do now? Her name would eventually become known some day, and she was speaking to a ruler.
Dipping her head, Maccenna said, "I am Macenna." It was a simple name and just her first name. MAccenna was aware of it but strangely enough, she had forgotton her last name. The more she thought on her name, the more she bacame confused. How could she have forgotton her last name? She remembered her old captain used a nickname rather than her last name. It was Kenna.
OOC: Never mind. *smiles*

Khalora smiled, "Maccenna." Well at least they were getting somewhere...
He decided to lay off the questions for a while, they were making her uncomfortable. "This is a beautiful place Maccenna. You've chosen the most remarkable scenery in Lilan to come to. But it be all for naught if war hits it. Thats why we fight you know... You have to see it in the daylight though. Its beautiful..."
"Even pirates can understand the notion of beauty, and respect it. It turns out that Southerners and Pirates aren't that different after all... if only we could see it..."
ooc: I wasn't sure where to go now, sorry...

OOC: I not sure either... So now what???
"Oh we're the same alright. Apart from moral, a slight drinking problem, attitude, loyalty and speech, were exactly the same." Maccenna looked up at Khalora. "If pirates were like southerners, we wouldn't be pirates would we?"

Alessio frowned a little, "True, I guess..." He thought a moment, "But you are taking stereotypes there Maccenna. Some pirates have moral, are loyal, speak to the best of their abilites... and even Southerners drink." But Khalora rarely had.
ooc: I know where this can lead to ;D
"Well Maccenna, you look like a capable young pirate, and a fair sailor. It just so happens that I have completed construction of the largest warship in the South. You're welcome to join if you wish..." He looked at her hopefully, the ship was vastly undercrewed, and he needed every able bodied person he could get. Maccenna may even prove to have a leadership position, but she'd have to accept first...

Maccenna's heart lifted and seemed to catch in her throat. It was like an answer to her dreams. So much of her life was spent on the sea, sailing, handling, and cleaning ships- fishing sometimes and even cooking. She loved being on a ship. It was like home to her. " I would love to be a part of your crew." She said breathlessly, "Captain."
She had not been on a ship in ages and was more than willing to be on one again. To her, a ship was like a bird might be to the sky. It would enable her to see places she had never seen and do things she'd never do. She did not care what position she was given, for any placing on a ship was better than no placing at all.

Alessio noted the fact that she had gone from timid and wary to suddenly elated and open. It was possibly the best thing he could have said for this situation...
"How good are you with a ballista? How much knowledge do you have of ships? And how good are you with a bow?"

Maccenna was blown back by Khaloras questions. "Well I'm.. I'm not too sure how to use a ballista, but I can learn quickly. I know alot about sailing and taking care of a ship though, and I am a fair markswoman with my bow..."
She wondered off her sentence. She hoped that was good enough for Khalora. She hoped he would let her at least become a part of her crew.
"I can read maps and measure logitude and latitude pretty well as well.. and I can read the stars and use them to steer a ship in a particular direction. I don't drink either..."
