Khalora stood on top of the highest step of the golden throne. He hated being in this palace, he belonged out on his ship, or in the midst of a battle, he truly hated politics. But this reason was much better than any other he had had for quite a while.
After Calypso had been killed on one of her spy missions, Khalora had been left with no royal guard, and no heir to the throne should he die. So he reviewed the ranks of his army and selected the strongest, smartest and most loyal officer he could find. And it was time for him to be promoted to Royal Guard of Danarta.
Khalora stood with his massive broadsword pointing at the ground, both his hands resting on the pommel. He was dressed in his ceremonial armour, bright golden platemail with runes and trimming along every explosed corner, and the Sun of Sanara emblazoned across his chest. He wore a lavish cloak of the deepest blue across his shoulders and it fell around him. His crown glittered atop his head. It was the first time he had worn such elaborate clothing since Nicholas' promotion to Commodore.
So now he waited in the massive hall, the thousands of soldiers and onlookers waiting for the imminent arrival of Corrin and his new guard...

Corrin entered the hall, walking down the path to his King. He felt awkward and slightly out of place next to Alessio; his King was wearing impressive golden armor, and Corrin's armor consisted of nothing but a light tunic and leather greaves. He bowed low before Alessio, and despite his nerves, his face looked calm. He rose to meet Alessio's gaze with his deep green eyes, and stood at attention, waiting for his King to speak.

Alessio admired that Corrin had not gone to elaborate details with his own armour. Although many would think it disrepectful to their King, Alessio saw it as respectful to his duty.
He lifted the sword's point off the stone a little in preperation for the ceremony. It was very brief. Alessio asked a few questions, Corrin stated a vow, he kneeled, a few taps on the shoulder and it was done. Then there'd be a small feast in Corrin's honour and then life would return to normal. And Khalora could get out of this damned trimming.
"Welcome to the Palace of Sanara, Corrin of the Danartan Legions." Alessio's voice echoed in the hall and was amplified. It helped to staunch the whispering in the hall which immediately fell silent. "You have summoned here to fulfill an ancient and noble role. The role of commander of the royal guard. The duty of the nobility lies in your hands, and the fate of Danarta may well in time prove to as well. Of this most highest of duties and honours, there can be no second-thoughts. No turning back. Your choice now is final. Do you, Corrin, accept this position?"
Khalora waited for the soldier to respond, already sure of the answer to come...

Corrin nodde, and in a strong, clear voice said yes. He looked onto his leader, every inch of his face showing perserverance and honor. He had never been in a position of such power, and he was determined to succeed.
Corrin noted Alessio's discomfort, and smiled slightly, knowing how much the King hated this kind of thing. After the feast, he knew the next time he would see the king, he would most likely be clad similar to Corrin; going for comfort rather than style.

"Then kneel, Corrin, and prepare for your new duties."
All that was left now was a couple of taps on the shoulder, and it was all over. Khalora raised his broadsword so that it was now above the soldier as he kneeled to the floor. He angled it down to tap the edge of the blade lightly on his left shoulder. "The duty of the commander of the royal guard falls now upon these willing shoulders." He tapped his right shoulder. "Your servitude to Danarta will never be forgotten, and will always be rewarded with honour and pride." He tapped him again on the left soldier. "Now arise, Commander Corrin, Royal Guard of Danarta, and fulfill your role."
Khalora stepped back from the soldier, it was his time to shine now...

OOC: Sorry this took so long, I've been lazy lately... Corrin stood and smiled at his king, and then turned to face the people who had come to watch. "Well, dont let me hold you up any longer. Lets eat!" He smiled heartily, his face flushed with excitement and honor. He waited for his king to head down to the banquet table first, letting him lead. The feast looked amazing, and it was more food than he had ever seen in his life. He was used to eating a scrany rabbit here and there, never a full on feast. He felt very privelaged to have all of this food layed out in honor of him and his new position.

Khalora held his hands up after Corrin had spoken. "Let the feast begin."
Immediately those knights and officials who were to be seated at the high table took their seat and the remaining men and women positioned themselves at tables further down the hall. Khalora lead Corrin down to the head of the head table where he took his seat, and Corrin's was an equally embelished one on his right.
Servants started running through the halls holding trays filled with all sorts of foods. It would be a long and hearty feast right till the end. "Enjoy yourself today Corrin."

Corrin smiled at the king. "Thank you, sir." The food looked even better up close, and tasted amazing. The chatter around him was nice, and many people stopped by to congratulate him. He found this refreshing as well.
Corrin's plate was piled high, and he had a big appetite. He quickly reached for seconds. His policy was to eat as much as you can when there is food, because you never know when your next meal would be. But now that he was here, he could count on solid meals every day. But old habbits die hard.

After quite a while of feasting and talking, of laughter and watching the jesters and dancers in the hall, Khalora turned to Corrin, "I must take my leave now Corrin. The Flame is waiting for me and I'm heading for the Last Outpost to sail to Teer. I have to speak with the Pirates."
He stood up and laid a powerful hand on his shoulder, "Congratulations again, and I'll send word to you for your next move. For the mean time however you can return to your men, I'm sure they'll be overwhelmed by your promotion. The feast will continue until you are finished here, and then the servants can clean up for you."
He smiled once more at his new Royal Guard and walked out of the loud hall. He was eager to be out of this court armour and back into his travelling armour. It was still elegant, but more broken-in and far more comfortable...
